A Spurt of Artsyness

I started a spurt of drawing again when we went on vacation. I can't think of a better time to draw than when on vacation. When we were in NY I found these really nice thin moleskin journals. Since we've been back from our trip, I still have the drive to keep drawing. I go through stages of enthusiasm with sketching. For now, the creative juices are still flowing. Maybe it's because I've been working on lesson plans for the up and coming school year. I have all sorts of art related projects to do with the boys. I decided to start a mommy journal of sorts for the boys. Something that hopefully they will enjoy even years from now.

Under the Sea

Here is my next ATC card that I made yesterday. I really liked the Wise Octopus in the story Rainbow Fish! So that was my inspiration for this one. It's for a swap that I'm participating. This would be yet another hobby I have decided to embark on. I'm like a junkie for new hobbies/crafts. What else can I say. It's just my personality type I suppose!

My Tiniest Ever Watercolor Picture!

This is a painting done with acrylic and watercolors. I also used some salt to add some texture! I think I'm entering this one in an ATC Swap. I may experiment with it again....I have all these ideas in my head...so I want to try a few and pick the ones that come out the best!!

More Time For Art

So I have been on a kick to change my organization habits....I think I've made some major improvements. Still plenty more room to continue improving..but I do feel like I am more relaxed and enjoy drawing now because I have space and time to draw now! It's also nice feeling like the house is in order....so maybe that's why I feel better about some of my recent work!! Let me know what you think! :)

Cats

Every once in a while I get some drawing in. I was fairly happy with the results of this sketch and I got it done in a short amount of time. I have had an itch to post here on this blog because it's been a while since I have put any sketches up. This one is fitting becausee the new kitten we have has been getting into one of the plants and spreading the soil all around. He also likes to dip his foot in the water bowl to get a drink. Something Petey is all together not so happy about. He barks for fresh water whenever he notices some cat hair floating in the bowl. I can't say I blame him. I'm not to crazy about feet either. Least of all someone with hairy feet. So here it is... My prowly cat sketch! :)

The Sheep Project

My mom asked me to sketch her a lamb. Here was one of my first attempts. I'll try and add some more of my drawings as I work on it. I was under the weather for about the last week. First Austin had a stomach bug, then almost a week later Wes caught it what seemed like two different times. He was sick for a couple days. He seemed to get better, then another week passed and he had it again! I thought for sure I was going to avoid it completely, but that last Friday it just came from out of no where! I just wanted to be a little girl again and have my mom take care of me! No offense to Eric! He helped me a lot! :) He took care of the boys and cooked meals. He even did Austin's school supply shopping! But, I just wanted my Mom! Moms....well... they just know what you need without even having to ask. They just have that nurturing maternal care that only mothers can give! That's how bad I felt! But, I am finally on the mend once again, just in time for the school year! Thank you! Thank you, God! I did a lot of praying! I am seriously considering a flu shot this time around! And I really hate shots. Can't stand needles. Eeeck! This was a rough summer! It felt like the winter flu season at our house! I think we did better during the winter season than we did this summer! Now that our family is healthy again, I hope I can resume more consistent blogging! :) Stay tuned!

Painted Ducky

I finally decided to try out a new medium. I picked up (or I should say Eric got them for me)a new set of acrylic paints. I have never tried them before. I have always wanted to see what the results are like with them. I see a lot of illustrations done with this type of paint. The colors are so vibrant. Now if I can just master some drawing and painting skills that would be awesome! I keep thinking it would be nice to sign up for a class! We'll see!
